Operation Homelink

Hey everyone,

I hope you have already heard about Operation Homelink but if you haven’t then they will be here next week with 100 refurbished computers to give to spouses and parents of the deployed to aid in the communication process. Here are the details:

Official date, time, and location.

8 December 2005
Family Support Center, McGuire AFB (Bldg 3011)
Families must show at 1030.

We have well over 100 in need so the following is the criteria or priority selection process according to Operation Homelink HQ.

Receiving members must be E1- E5:

Currently deployed, must be less than half way through the deployment.

Deploying within 90 days outside of the US

(I think these two categories will complete the list for the computers but if it goes further then)

Deploying within 120 days

Eligible family members are spouses or parents. The computers are not for the military member.

As you can see if you are just receiving this email you must work quickly to have your members families added to the list. My cutoff is Friday December 2nd at noon. Please compile a complete list of your eligible members with their name, rank, phone number, and deployment status and send it to me ASAP. Include your information as a POC in case I have difficulty contacting a family. Also if you have members receiving computers, plan on joining us on the 8th and invite your Unit / Squadron commanders to attend the event. The more publicity the event has the more computers NJ military members may receive in future donations. Operation Homelink hopes to return to NJ with more computers within a year of this date so please keep that in mind.

Hopefully this answers all your questions, if not feel free to call me.
I will send you all a list of the recipients for the donation by COB Friday December 2nd and I will try to notify all the families that same day. I may be working on Saturday but they will be notified before Monday.

Free Lodging at Walter Reed for Families of Injured Soldiers

Please find the application request for "free lodging" that the USO- of Metropolitan Washington DC Metro has made possible for Soldiers who have families visiting from out of town over the holiday season. Please see attached for details.

Please send the attached registration form from the USO to Soldiers in the NCR. This is a great opportunity to arrange to have their families closer to them for the holidays. USO is sponsoring a Holiday Hotel Program from 20-30 Dec only. The program provides rooms for up to four family members per Soldier, for three nights and four days over the period of 20-30 Dec. They must live outside a 200 mile radius. Enlisted Soldiers in the rank of SSG and below have priority. If there are slots available a week before the start date, it will be opened to all others.

All forms must be verified and signed by the NCO's immediate supervisor.

ARFP CONNECTIONS

Welcome to this month's email of CONNECTIONS - Monthly Hot Topic, brought to you by the Army Reserve Family Programs (ARFP). Each month we cover a topic of interest for Army Reserve Families with the intent to raise awareness and share information.
The category for the month of December is Information and Referral. Army Reserve Families have many time consuming priorities and during the holidays families are often pressed for time. Our Connections topic is designed to get you the information that you need and get it to you fast. We address issues like subsidized childcare, scholarships, art contests, new health benefits, virtual mobilization and deployment briefings, Army Emergency Relief and provide information on where to get a free phone card for deployed Soldiers. Keeping Army Reserve families informed is a top priority for the Family Programs Office.
Each topic is summarized with many handy links for you to visit the Family Programs Portal or an associated web site to get more information about topics that you are interested in.
This holiday season, your Family Programs staff wants to provide you with peace of mind by helping you get answers to your questions. We send you our heartfelt greetings for a wonderful holiday and best wishes for a prosperous new year.
